Life Can Get Messy

Written by Youth Minister Kevin

Life can get messy, so what do we do about it? The vast majority of messes are by our own doing. Often times we don't like to take responsibility for it and pass it off as "someone else's" fault though. Romans 3:23 says we all sin and fall short of the glory of God. Nothing good ever comes from sin, when we mess with it, it makes a mess of us.

When you find yourself in a mess, you need God's grace. You can't "out-sin" God's grace. That does not give us "liberty to sin" and keep going back to ask for forgiveness. That is like an injured man who went to a physician and was cured, and because of that went and injured himself again purposefully.

When life gets messy:

ACCEPT GOD'S GRACE

It is a free gift! There is nothing we can do or ever do to earn it. But it is a gift from God, (Ephesians 2:8-9).

CELEBRATE GOD'S GRACE

Just because you ruined yesterday doesn't mean you have to be miserable tomorrow. Read Psalm 103.

USE GOD's GRACE

Let God's grace be your source of strength, the foundation on which you stand.

There is a story of a master violinist who was playing a concert and during the concert his strings began to break. But he never quit playing and finished the concert with only one string left. What can we learn from this?

Even if you are down to one string, God can still make music with your life.
