Wow, it’s October already. Time for candy corn, apple cider, and pumpkins. Oh, by the way, I think I need a “pumpkin patch” ‘cause I found a hole in one of my pumpkins.
Harvest season is upon us. Crops are being harvested. Trees are shedding leaves and temperatures are dropping. One lad told me his dad’s ears of corn were so large he was getting five dollars each. Another lad said his dad’s cantaloupes were so big it only takes three to make a dozen.
October is World Mission Offering (WMO) month. The theme is “Live the Word>Proclaim the Word>Be Transformed.” (Luke 10:1-9; 17) How can we at FBC touch the lives of those who need Christ and support the work of those who share Christ with others? Simply by giving to WMO. “Heal the sick who are there and tell them, ‘the Kingdom of God is near you.’” (v. 9) This is our way of obeying Jesus’ command, “Go into all the world and preach the Gospel.”
On Sunday, October 9 there will be our Children’s Department family picnic at Gunn Park. Wow! Fun, Food and Fellowship! It don’t get much better than that. I hope to see many of our church families there as we celebrate life, love and liberty.
Another great event is “TRUNK or TREAT” in the parking lot across from the church. What a month. But, what a God who loved us and gave His Son for our sin.
Hallelujah! What a Savior!
Charis,
Rev. Gage
