Youth Minister Kevin Theders

FBC HAS A NEW YOUTH MINISTER!

My name is Kevin Theders. I was born February 22, 1989 in Cincinnati, Ohio to Benny and Angela Theders. I first became involved in church at the age of 16 and began attending St. Clair Avenue Baptist Church in Hamilton, Ohio. I was a very shy kid at the time, but began to break out of that shell by becoming very involved in the youth group through the help of my youth pastor, Tim Davish. I was led to the Lord by a few people, by my cousin Andrew inviting me to church, and my grandmother asking me I would like to pray. I accepted Jesus Christ as my Savior in February of 2005. From that point on, my life would take a new direction.

I became much more involved in the church. In the fall of 2005, I began to work with the children by helping with their music on Sunday mornings before their lesson. My senior year of high school was when I began to feel that “pull” of where God wanted me to go with my life. For one of the YPM services (youth lead the service) I was chosen to give the message. After this time, I knew God was calling me into the ministry. I graduated from Northwest High School in Cincinnati, Ohio in 2007. That was when God led me to a small seminary school called Temple Baptist College. I attended one semester there taking classes in Christian Ministries. I had to stop because of financial reasons. I later found out it was part of a bigger plan God had in store for me.

Little did I know that plan would involve me very soon. God was calling me into ministry, I just didn’t know where until God used someone very close to me. Pastor Tim Davish asked me to be the youth minister of First Baptist Church of Fort Scott, Kansas. This was the service God was calling me for. After much prayer, I accepted the offer and all the pieces began to fall into place. Someone stepping up to give me a place to stay and finding a good college to continue my education. God made everything come together for me. I will be attending Fort Scott Community College in the fall while working part-time as the youth minister at FBC of Fort Scott. I cannot wait to see what else is in store for me and I thank God for all the blessings He has put in my life.
